Iceland forging ahead with incentive travel

Touringfrance02_2 Iceland is one the fastest growing incentive travel destinations in the world. It's success is largely down to location, accessible to companies in both Europe and North America, but also because of the unusual activities on offer and its unique landscape.

A popular way for companies to reward productivity and galvanise team spirit, incentive travel in Iceland is an attractive option for employers eager to get the best from staff in the future.

Hosting business events in Iceland is a great way to ensure they are unforgettable and unique. The volcanic island in the North Atlantic is an unusual, exciting and challenging location for any number of team building exercises and other corporate events.

New SAS direct flight to Kiruna, Swedish Lapland

Sas_planeVisiting the Swedish Icehotel will become even easier next winter thanks to Discover the World & Scandinavian Airlines' ground breaking agreement to operate an exclusive charter flight series between Heathrow and Kiruna on selected dates between December 2007 and April 2008.

This means that the Icehotel will be brought within only three and a half hours of London, making the lengthy transit through Stockholm unnecessary.

We will also be adding skiing to our winter in Lapland programme as Swedish Lapland offers some of the most exciting and challenging skiing in Europe and with guaranteed snow right the way into June, this is an experience not to be missed.

I'll keep the media room posted on further developments so watch this space!

Whaling in Iceland - Discover the World's view

In light of the decision by the Icelandic Government to resume commercial whaling, please download  our official statement here - Download  iceland_whaling_discover_the_worlds_view_british.doc

Having operated holidays to Iceland for over 21 years and as the first tour operator in the world to operate a whale watching tour to Iceland in 1993 – with similar holidays consistently featuring in our offerings ever since - it is Discover the World's experience that Icelanders are some of the most fair minded, friendly and well informed people in the world and their country really is a true paradise.  It is therefore especially perverse that their government should take this action.  We can assure you and all our clients that we will be taking an active roll in lobbying the Icelandic government.

We have also created a forum - www.discover-the-world.co.uk/whalingdebate - encouraging members of the travelling public to make their feelings known on the subject. Feel free to add your own comments.
